Our Savior is Born

Blessings to all this Christmas season! It is a good time to reflect on the reason we are celebrating the holiday of Christmas. It is to acknowledge and celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

There are many prophecies concerning the birth of our Lord. Isaiah prophesied the following below.

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign; Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”

Isaiah 7:14
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

In today’s modern society, we take a census either electronically or by mail. In the day’s of the birth of our Savior, about 2,000 years ago, it was not so easy. All citizens had to travel to the city of their lineage. Joseph, husband to Mary, was of the house of David. Therefore they traveled from Galilee to Judea to the city of Bethlehem. (Luke 2:1-4) Due to crowding, Mary delivered her child and wrapped Him in swaddling clothing, and laid Him in a manger. (Luke 2:7)

Shepherds in the field nearby were visited by an angel of the Lord, who told them of the great news.

Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great 	joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a 	Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe 	wrapped in swaddling cloths laying in a manger.”  And suddenly there was with the angel a 	multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying;

“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Luke 2:10-14

So what does Christmas mean to us? It means everything! We celebrate the birth of our Savior during this time. We give thanks for His birth, His life and His sacrifice on the cross for our salvation. See our post The Gift.

As we take this time to reflect and share with family and friends, we rejoice in knowing that we have eternal life through salvation.

If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, time is short. See our page Salvation.

Jesus was born on this earth, lived, taught, preached, performed miracles, was crucified and rose from the dead. He is in heaven and will return. This return to gather His people (the church) is prophesied and nearing.

When Jesus was asked by His disciples how would they know it was the end of the age. Jesus replied and that reply is in Matthew 24 and 25. See our post Signs of Jesus Return.

It is so close. Jesus is coming. Don’t wait. Make a life change today!

We wish all a blessed Christmas season!
