Do you feel the urgency to prepare? We do! Jesus is coming.
He is coming for his people. We need to be ready, watching and waiting.
What do we need to do to prepare? We need to draw closer to the Lord. Listen to his voice. Study. Pray. We need to get our spiritual house in order and in doing so our physical house will come into order.
Jesus gave us the signs in Matthew 24 and then the parables in Matthew 25.
In the parable of the 10 virgins in Matthew 25:1-13 Jesus said five virgins were prepared to meet the bridegroom and five were not. Five prepared virgins were ready with oil in their lamps and five unprepared virgins had no oil for their lamps. The bridegroom was delayed and the ten virgins all were asleep. At midnight the bridegroom came. The unprepared five virgins asked for some of the prepared virgin’s oil. Those prepared refused to share and said for the unprepared to buy their own oil. The five virgins with oil went out to meet the bridegroom. After buying oil, the unprepared virgins came and asked for entry and were denied.
The Lord said to them, I do not know you.
There’s a lot of lessons in this parable. We know we should be ready when Jesus returns. No one else is responsible for our relationship with Jesus Christ. Each one of us is accountable for ourselves. We must be spiritually ready. We must have our spiritual house in order. Not just our spiritual house, but also, we must have our physical house ready. Get ready to leave this material world behind. If you are spiritually ready then other aspects of your live will be in place as well.
This parable says that the bridegroom was delayed. We look for the imminent return of Jesus Christ. If he is delayed, like the bridegroom, we are to be prepared still. Spiritually sustain yourself and physically sustain yourself. The virgins that were ready had oil.
Also, we are given the story of Noah as an example of what the days would be like at Jesus return. Matthew 24:37-38 Also in Hebrews 11:7, we are told that Noah built the ark in fear of the Lord and preparation to save his household.
By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. Hebrews 11:7.
In following the voice of the Lord and the direction of the Lord, Noah built an ark and stocked it in preparation of the flood and the days to come. He relied on the guidance of the Lord.
The Lord has given us the beginning and the end in our bibles. We have the signs that will lead up to the tribulation and what will happen in the tribulation.
Let us be like Noah and the five prepared virgins. Let’s be ready for our Lord’s coming.
Please don’t wait, prepare now! Get ready.

It is easy to get caught up in the worldly things of life. These things can build and build until you’ve lost yourself in materialism and selfishness. The focus is on who has the best house, the best car, the best clothing, the most money, the most social followers, the most friends, and the most (fill in the blanK). The world strives for power, and position.
As a child of God we have to purify ourselves. We have to turn and resist those things that are not of the Lord. We should purge the things that cause stumbling blocks in our relationship with the Lord.
Is it social media? Is it an ungodly relationship? Is it a job that promotes things that are a sin? Is it a thought? Is it pride? Is it jealousy? Is it envy? Is it strife? Is it hatred? Is it an addiction? Is it shopping? Is it the credit system? Is it the love of money? What is the sin that keeps you from the Lord? Recognize it and make the change.
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify you hearts, you double-minded. James 4:7-8
Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:6-10
Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of you doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil. Isaiah 1:16
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:20-21
The King is Coming
Jesus mentioned his return to take his church in Luke 21:34-36. This return is the rapture of the church. Jesus charges us to be counted worthy to escape. The only way to do this is to come out of the world and press in to the Lord. Make those hard changes today. Don’t wait. Strive for holiness.
Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Matthew 24:44
“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.” Luke 21:34-36
